Description : A gigantic gregarious marsh plant, 1.8-3.6 m high with erect grass-like equitant leaves, 1.2-1.8 m long, 1.8-3.8 cm broad. Flowering stem embraced at the base by the leaf-sheaths, straight, glossy, spongy within, the top, forming the rachis of the female and male spikes. Lower female spike 15-25 cm long by 7.5-25 mm diam., male spike 5-7.5 cm above the female, 20-30 cm long.
Distribution : Sylhet and Chittagong in swamps and canals.
