Description : An ornamental shrub or small tree. Leaves obovate to obovate-oblong, almost sessile, chartaceous, 5-7.5 cm long. Flowers middle-sized, bright pink or white, petals wrinked, in terminal panicles.
Distribution : Planted as an ornamental plant.

Uses : Bark, leaves and flowers are considered hydragogue and drastic purgative. Bark is also considered stimulant and febrifuge. Roots are astringent and used as gargle. Seeds have narcotic properties.
