Description : A small tree-like shrub, all softer parts densely appressed-villous. Leaves 10-20 cm long, coriaceous, lanceolate to oblong-lanceolate, thickly silky-villous, serrate, narrowed into a usually auricled short petiole. Flower-heads 6-8 mm, in large spreading or pyramidal, terminal, tomentose panicles.
Distribution : Forests of Chittagong and Chittaging Hill Tracts.
Chemical Constituents : Leaves contains 2 quercetin derives (Asolkar et al., 1992).
Uses : Leaves are stomachic, antispasmodic, emmenagogue, antiseptic and expectorant, used in leucorrhoea, diarrhoea, cholera. A warm infusion of the leaf is a pleasant sudorific, excellent diaphoretic in bronchitis. As fumigation it is much used in rheumatism an
